An Article On Fire Damage

By Mattie Knight

Cases of fire have been on the increase in the recent years from many nations around the world. This is usually a very tragic incident for one to go through especially in the case of a big outbreak. Some occur by accident while others are started deliberately by individuals. In relation to this, the following are details on fire damage.

The most dangerous damage caused by fires is death. Many times individuals get caught up in burning buildings unable to save their dear lives. Due to the great amount of heat they end up burning even beyond recognition. Others, due to too much smoke, end up suffocating hence losing their lives in the process.

Destruction of property is another consequence of fires. People lose property worth millions of shillings and this is a very disturbing ordeal for one to face. Many businesses are lost and individuals may also lose their source of income. Starting over is not easy for most people hence they end up becoming stranded.

The cost of ignorance is usually very high. This type of accident is purely man-made, meaning that it can be prevented. People are to blame in all instances due to the fact that they are aware of what is required of them but they instead chose to ignore and have their own way. If only persons followed instructions, then there would not be so many cases.

There are several preventive measures which persons should take. To start with, they are supposed to make sure that all naked flames are well taken care of. Smoking near the bed should be avoided as well as ensuring that flames in the kitchen has been put off before people go to sleep as this can be the cause of a nightmare they rather not have.

So as to reduce the amount of damage caused, the first step is to call the nearby fire station or police station to report that there has been an outbreak. Individuals should then try as hard as they can to save their lives. No one should delay trying to save any property no matter how valuable it may be. Also, persons are required to use the stairs instead of elevators just to be safe.

People are also warned against opening any door which seems to be having smoke coming from underneath or seem hot. In addition to that, individuals are warned against returning to the scene until they are told that it is safe to do so. All food that was exposed to fire and flames should be thrown away. This is because it can have adverse effect on health in case consumed.

In summary of the above, anyone can be prone to a this scenario hence one should always be prepared. However, it is better safe than sorry hence persons are supposed to take prior preventive measures. Awareness campaigns on fires should be advocated for to train individuals on what to do before, during and after the accident. This is in a bid to make sure that persons are able to help themselves even when the fire brigade is nowhere to be seen.
