Transform A Room With A Fake Sheepskin Rug

By Jason Allen

Many people want to decorate a room in their home but are often intimidated by the process. Keeping things simple helps with cost and maintenance but the space can still become fabulous with just a few touches. Things like a fake sheepskin rug can transform a living space with one step.

Unlike area rugs of yesteryear, these new models have a look and feel like they came from the outdoors. The difference is that most are safe for machine washing but it may be best for a professional cleaning service to handle stains. There are also many colors and textures to complement any room theme.

Those who want to decorate a room in earth or neutral tones may want to go with a faux fur or sheepskin rug that is cream or dark grey in color. White rugs are best in low traffic areas of the home or is easy to clean. However, for a more eclectic look, primary or vibrant colors may be used to complement the paint and furnishings in an interior space.

Many are in love with the texture of a real sheepskin rug but may want an alternative that does not involve animals. These days, rugs may feel smooth and silky but are made from synthetic materials that are easy to clean and store. The great thing is that there are no hard rules in which should be used in a space, as some may desire contrast by using a coarse textured rug in a room that may be considered contemporary or modern in style.

Although some may go for a look they saw in a magazine, experimenting is a lot more fun. People live different lives and may have needs, like having their media collection within arms reach instead of against the wall. In some cases, it may be more practical to hang an area rug like a large picture, as opposed to laying it on the floor. Those with pets or small children in the home may want to consider doing this to avoid possible spills.

Anyone without a clue as to the direction they should take may want to look online for inspiration. There are many social media sites with ideas and tips that cost nothing. Many of these deal with common situations like small spaces, dealing with walls, or choosing the right color theme combination. By looking up a color wheel, one can see the many possibilities.

One possible option is to make one area rug into several smaller rugs. One may be used near a favorite chair, or by the fireplace. If dealing with white or light colors, it may be wise to place these in areas where foot traffic is minimal. Another tip would be to consult a cleaning professional about treatments that will prevent stains from becoming permanent.

There is no reason why anyone should come home to a boring living space, unless they really want to. Adding accessories is not hard and even if a person rents, there are still ways to live out their decorating dreams while staying within the lease requirements. All it takes is a little imagination and planning to be on the way to something fabulous for less. After a while, people may think that a professional was hired to do the job.
