Native American Regalia: Common Assumptions Unpacked

By Steven Reed

You don t need to be a native American to celebrate and enjoy what their culture has to offer. Apart from the stereotypes, there are many beautiful things to embrace about this culture as native American regalia. However, let s have a look at the common assumptions about this culture.

Each and every person has some sort of laziness rooted in them. Whether you are one to lay in bed the whole day, or whether you need someone to pick up the remote control for you, this is a more than a common attribute. These communities, however, are more so known to fail in their education and prioritize everything else but this.

Government assistance is a popular reason for people in any state to be bitter. However, if you speak more to people, you will find that most everyone received the same equally. In this case, these communities are known to get more than others simply because ages ago, a deal was agreed on that they can receive more if they pass on their land to the government, which they did.

No, their houses are not filled with so many spiritual items that they can t move, or that if you enter, you will die. They probably do have the items that are of value to them but their homes are not going to look any less normal than yours do. These values are also something that was passed on and taught them which is why you will still see some items but not more than usual.

In today s world, how often do you see a parent tucking their kids in and reading them a storybook? Similar to what you see in movies. This is very rare so why bother if these communities do it? Yes, they come with many stories to tell but this is mainly because they were told by their parents and grandparents. In return, it is being passed on to their children.

A popular one is that this group is quite the alcoholics. Well, so what right? There is no ethos in the entire world that doesn t drink. The people who don t, usually don t due to personal choice or illness. As for the rest, if they could, they would probably crack open a bottle with the natives. Also, alcohol is a choice that everyone makes and it shouldn t be a reason to not join them.

The nice thing about them is they are not followers. They are more than happy to embrace their tribes and practise their rituals whether others agree with it or not. What makes them so rich as a tribe is that they are not falling to the norm of becoming a robot and doing what everyone else thinks is right. How they live is their choice.

It may help a great deal for you to do some research about where they come from and what they are all about. You will find that they are as normal as you and the next person. Their beliefs and ethos should not be a reason for you or anyone to shun them because of being different. It may also help to equip yourself with some knowledge on what you shouldn t do around them to offend them.
