For Good Assisted Living Seattle Offers A Recommendable Destination

By Kevin Taylor

Assisted living homes are designed to give proper care to the old and those that are physically incapable of looking after themselves. These institutions look after the old so that their families can take part in other activities and go on with their lives. Due to this, these residences are important to consider when there is an elderly person in the family. Today, homes are improved and provide very good care. When one needs Assisted Living Seattle offers the perfect location to visit.

These facilities vary in many ways. For example, a number of them own apartments that are given to residents whereas others have residents staying in rooms. Rooms are private in some cases, but not always. Most structures have communal areas like outdoor patio, entertainment areas and large dining areas. The social areas provide space for residents to meet and socialize.

Assisted living facilities are not the same as traditional apartments because residents are not tied by a lease agreement and regular lease periods. In assisted living facilities, residents pay rent on a month-to-month basis. That means that one can leave any time they want. However, most facilities require a 30-day notice to be provided before one can leave.

There may however be an exception to the notification rule if the resident is ordered to transfer to a higher level facility of care by a nurse. Such an order can be provided if the resident needs more medical care based on their increasing need for better or more comprehensive healthcare. In such a case, the resident does not need to provide the assisted living facility with prior notice before transferring.

Residents are normally assisted to adhere to medication regimes as part of staying in a senior living facility. If a resident is in need of medication, it is sent for, preserved and administered to them according to the recommendations of the doctor. The staff members of the facility perform this duty. Though not recommended, reminders to take medication may also be issued to residents by the staff if it is deemed necessary.

The facilities normally provide foods for residents. Most for the facilities provide meals thrice in a day. The meals are included in the monthly rent that residents are supposed to pay. However, the residents are also given an option of sourcing their meals from other places. This way the cost of meals is not included in their monthly rent/fees.

However, not all facilities permit residents to eat meals from outside. In fact, some facilities require that residents eat at least three meals made in the facility in a day. Whether the resident agrees to eat or refuses, the amount of money that they are supposed to pay at the end of the month may never be reduced. The meals provided by the facility are normally nutritious since old people have to stay healthy and strong.

Residents are usually provided with transportation to medical appointments. However, the transportation service may be limited to a given radius from the facility. Most facilities have specific days for which they provide transportation to medical appointments. Unscheduled transportation may also be provided at an additional fee.
