In order for an official document to be considered legal in another country, an apostille is needed which certifies its authenticity. To receive a certification for a document, one has to apply for an apostille service. The service helps with the process of certifying the document and sending it to the appropriate party for which it is presented to.

As part of the process for certifying a text, an apostille certificate needs to be issued. The certificate is affixed bearing the seal, stamp and signature from the department who is authorizing. According to international law, the apostille should have recognition from Hague Convention.

Many institutions can legalize documents. An individual can go through an attorney who is authorized to draw apostilles or through a high court. There are also ministries for external affairs in some countries which also help with these matters.

Documents which can be apostilled include court documents such as a power of attorney, administrative documents such as degrees and other official texts which are recognized by the Hague Convention.

For one to apply for this type of service, you have to issue a document in order for it to be legalized. The paper can also be issued through the same company or institution which authorizes it as long as it includes the stamp and signature of the customer.

There are countries where the certificate needs to be verified by a high court or by different governmental authorities. When a customer submits a document that must be legalized, it normally will have a validity date of till when it can be certified otherwise it will expire.

When issuing the certificate, first it must include the details of the country where the document is issued in as well as the persons name who is signing it. In addition, it must also include the capacity of the individual signing, the certificate number, the place and certified date and lastly, the paper must appear with a stamp and signature from the institution legalizing the paper. The service is available to any person who seeks to legalize a text and who needs to send it to another country.

The client needs to notify the appropriate institution for what purpose the apostille is used for and which country the text needs to be legalized for. In some cases a translation for document is required, depending on the country it is sent to.

The apostille service can be completed in various ways. The person can either walk in to the office and submit the papers by hand. Another way is to post the papers through registered mail.There are various websites belonging to companies which offer such services. When applying for an apostille, one must remember that a fee will apply in order to authenticate a document. The designated department may also offer an express delivery for the paper to be sent overseas unless if the client decides to mail it by him or herself.
