Details On An Ideal Home Inspection Software

By Lucia Weeks

When house hunting, there is a need to verify whether a house is really in great shape or not. Rather than wait until a home inspector is available to accompany you, you can acquire an inspection checklist for your own use. The Home Inspection Software checklist contains a number of things that any buyer should look out for in a house he really wants to invest in.

Assessing the roof and adjacent gutter should be your next task. What is needed here is a stable ladder that can support your weight as you head to the roof. Ensure all shingles are in place and that the gutter does not have any debris in it.

You must always make sure you have looked at the chimney before climbing down. With the chimney, you will be looking at the straightness exhibited. It must be straight and all bricks must be intact. Bricks have been known to come off as time goes by.

Note down the condition of the roof, chimney and gutters. Next to be inspected will be the siding area. Sidings are required to at all times be straight. A problem with the siding area is best displayed by areas that are bulging and bowing. This is mainly occasioned by too much pressure on them.

While still outside, be sure to check out how the foundation is fairing. Flaking is a common sign that there is something wrong with this area. Apart from flaking, it is common to see lines of weakness in some properties. These lines also called cracks come about when the soil begins to shift beneath the residence.

The next step is to head inside and on the way in, take a minute to assess the front door. Given that these are areas commonly exposed to weather conditions such as rainfall, snow and sunlight, they are bound to start either weathering or rotting.

While inside, the next phase after checking the doors will be examination of all windows. Open and close without exerting any pressure and note the reactions. Also, each window facing outside must have a screen guard in place to protect against bugs and flying insects.

It is important for you to also inspect the condition of the floors. For floors, it may require you to lift a section of the carpet to check whether all boards are in order. Worn out tiles and sloping are also signs of a floor that has not been well maintained.

Ceiling assessment requires that you turn your eyes upwards in each and every room visited. Establish whether any patching has been done on the ceiling recently. This is done to conceal signs of water damage brought about by leaking from the roof. Large brown stains are an indicator that leaking is taking place.

The final place to inspect is often the cooking area. Given that many buyers are highly interested in a functional kitchen, take your time to assess each appliance you come across. Try the garbage disposal to check whether it is operational. If concerned about leaking, all you have to do is peek beneath the kitchen sinks.
