IHOP is a popular eating joint. The first outlet of IHOP was opened in California in the year 1958. The parent company, DineEquity, Inc. has been franchising since 1960 and has stores in 49 states, Canada, and Mexico. It is a popular family restaurant. It serves breakfast, lunch and also dinner.

If you were interested in getting into the restaurant business, how do you start an IHOP franchise?

You need to have at least 1.5 million which is close to $500,000 to start a franchise. Basic business experience is needed to get the approval. The company doesn?t assist you to finance your franchise. You can consult a bank if you don?t have enough money.

Once you are approved, you will be brought to the main office for training while the store is still in construction. Strict guideline are followed while constructing the store. The store needs to have place for 185 people. The area population should be between 25,000 to 50,000. Your lot size must be about 40,000 to 50,000 square feet if it stands alone and 10,000 to 20,000 square feet if it is part of a shopping or grocery establishment. Your customers should get enough parking space.

Opening an IHOP franchise will be nice for people who have experience in business. You will get the necessary training if you meet all the requirements. You will get help from the chain in the areas of food and training. You will have to hire the employees on your own. You will have to take the interview of the candidates.
