Gingivitis is caused by tartar that grows on the lower part of the pets teeth. This happens to many dogs since their owners only focus on cleaning the outer and upper parts of their teeth. This should not be the case. Instead, the lower part should be cleaned as well.

There are chew toys that can be used to enhance the dental health of dogs. The chews help clean the teeth as well as meet their urge to chomp things. The right chew toys can be acquired from stores in the locality with the help of veterinary doctors.

You should not leave the dental monitoring practice of your dogs to your family members who have no skills to do so. You should learn from the breeders on how to look for signs such as broken teeth, bloody saliva and bleeding tongue. Any of these may indicate oral diseases.

Lastly, if it is your first time in the market, it is important that you ask questions concerning the pets. Let the breeders explain to you all that you would like to know. You may also carry home some leaflets that would be reminding you some of the things that you need to do.
