For An Affordable Pre School Ozone Park Should Be Given Priority

By Jerry Richardson

Pre schools are pre-leaning education institutions that offer education to kids below the age of five. Typically, students in these schools are between three and five years of age. Other names used to refer to these establishments are kindergartens, grade 0, pre-primary, nursery schools, preschools, and pre-K. They are primarily meant to prepare children for compulsory primary school education. When in need for a good pre school Ozone Park offers one of the best choices to choose from.

The idea of pre-schools has its beginning within the Hungarian Kingdom in the nineteenth century. One of the founders is named Theresa Brunszvik. Brunszvik started about eleven child care facilities in Hungary at the time, with goal of providing care to children. The idea of taking children to preschool soon became very popular among member of the middle class. Within a short time, preschools were being opened in the whole of Hungarian Kingdom and beyond.

The first kindergarten to be established within the US was opened in Wisconsin in 1856. Students were taught in German at that time. However, the use of German stopped in 1860 when Peabody opened the first facility that taught children in English. Later in 1970, the first free kindergarten was opened by Conrad Poppenhusen. At this time, all preschools were privately financed until in 1873 when the first publicly financed preschool was opened in St. Louis.

Research indicates that the first few years after birth are very vital to the process of leaning in human beings. Absorption of knowledge during these early years is higher compared to later years. This is often attributed to the fact that the development of the brain is highest at this age. As such, quality preschools and preschool teachers positively impact the learning outcomes in the long-term.

Preschools use different teaching modes and cover different subjects. However, certain themes are common in all the schools. Such themes include emotional, social personal, and economic development, listening, talking, play, communication, self-help skills, creative and aesthetic development, mathematics awareness, scientific thinking, and literacy.

Standards imposed on preschools vary from one jurisdiction to another. These standard are meant to govern various aspects of learning in these facilities such as administration, curriculum, class size, assessment, teacher-student ratio, teacher-student interaction, standards, classroom environment, and services. Curriculums are made specific to children of different ages. Facilities are different in the areas of study they give more emphasis to.

A lot of controversy surrounds the consensus about the importance of preschools to the cognitive ability of children later in life. There are research findings that support the fact that preschools improve cognitive in children, while other studies state that preschools are detrimental. Others take a middle position that preschools are both beneficial as well as detrimental in different areas of study.

Research into the benefits of preschools is a large body being undertaken by experts in several fields of study. As a result of the enormous research, several teaching methods have been formulated. Some major examples include Forest Kindergarten, Waldorf, Head Start, Reggio Emilia Approach, Montessori, HighScope, and Bank Street among others. Kindergartens are specific in the method they adopt even other combine various methods.
