Common Spiritual Truths Shared By All Religions

By Brenda Fox

Religion is considered a common phenomenon for humanity. There are only minor differences that seek to distinguish different religious groups. However, there are spiritual truths shared by all religions around the world. It is from these principles we can deduce that the element of God is universal, only that different communities perceive it differently.

The existence of God the creator is common among all religious communities. There are different stories of origin but they all point at a God who created humanity and gave him dominion over everything on earth. Based on where a community comes from, there are differences in what God left His people. Some were given land, animals, oceans, and such other features around them.

Love for fellow human being is a command that God the creator gave to all human beings. It is from this principle that morality arises. People are required to live by a certain moral code that is based on love for one another. It is shown by not hurting others, not killing, taking care of properties of other people and such acts.

Religious groupings do not condone evil. In fact, it will be punished through a lot of pain. Such evil include killing innocent people, lying, damaging property and other hurtful acts. In most cases, it is said that the hurt you inflict on other people will return to you. This is why people are required to act with compassion.

As a human being, you are required to live in hope. The struggles of daily life are likely to cause people to feel abandoned and hopeless. This feeling is regarded as a sin in some quarters. The teaching is that God is the strength of humanity. In case you experience difficulty, you should summon hope from within because God will shield you from the calamities that might befall you.

It is normal and expected to face struggles in life but you have a responsibility to overcome. The earth was not meant to be a place of peace and tranquility. This is why the daily struggle should be to overcome the pain. Those who overcome have a reward waiting for them in heaven or after-life. In fact, struggling is meant to polish you for the life after.

There is a heaven after earth. It might not be regarded as Heaven but there is a place where good people go after conquering the difficulties of this earth. In reverse, there is hell prepared for the evil people. This is why everyone is invited to be good and aim to get to the place of reward. Hell is a place for punishing evil doers.

There are different names and understanding of principles that are shared by all religions. For instance, God may be referred by different names. The perception of family may also be different, though they agree that it is good to have a family. From these principles, it is valid to conclude that the root of humanity is one.
