As toddlers physically grow, so do their interests, skills and sense of mobility.Soon enough, simple toys will not be enough to hold their attention, or match their level of energy.It is therefore a smart idea to purchase a ride on toy that will accommodate their physical and mental development.As in buying any toy, safety should always come first so that injury can be minimized while children are having fun.Here are some of the things you should remember when buying a ride on toy for your child.

Take into account your child’s age and ability when choosing a ride on toy; make sure that they will not have a hard time operating it.Check to see that the child’s weight will be well supported by the toy’s size and toughness.Children will most probably be pedalling forward and backward, so find how steady the ride on toy will be when this happens.There is a chance that the child will fall off while riding, which is why it would be better to pick a ride one toy that is low and close to the ground.Find out if the ride on toy has any sections that can harm your child, such as any removable parts that can cause choking, or sharp points that can lead to cuts.

If the child wants to use their ride on outside, make them understand that they can only play within the area that you see is safe.Ride on toys need to have a tall flag attached at the back so that if riders ever end up on the street, motorists can see them with no trouble.

Make sure that the child wears safety gear at all times to minimize injury.Get a quality-tested helmet that will fit the child’s head properly, but will not constrict it.Also, buy knee and elbow pads to protect them from scrapes and bruises.
