Illinois Public Arrest Records Available Online

By Claire Dowell

We live in a world where danger lurks almost everywhere. It has come to the point that is now essential for us to find ways to protect ourselves in every possible way. And this is true even when meeting new friends. Sometimes, these new friends do not turn out to be who they claim to be and this can submit us to danger. This is why many have started to make it a practice to check out a person's personal background before going any further into their friendship or relationship. In the Land of Lincoln, people protect themselves from probable danger by getting copies of Illinois criminal records. After the implementation of the Freedom of Information Act, doing this has become quite easy.

In Illinois, if you want to perform a background check on a person, you need to get in touch with the Illinois State Police, particularly with its Bureau of Identification. Tasked with managing the state's Automated Fingerprint Identification System (which is used to identify suspects), the Bureau of Identification performs a named-based conviction information search for those who want copies of criminal records. If you want one, you need to mail a properly filled up application form along with a fee of $16 for every record you want searched. Most employers, however, prefer the fingerprint search option because it has been proven more effective. The said search has a $20 per name fee.

There's a free criminal records search option, but this is only reserved for those who want to review their own records. This free service can be done through a fingerprint search at a law enforcement agency in your area.

You'll have to contend with a small catch, though. Only arrests that resulted in conviction can be opened to and obtained by the general public. In other words, if you are not the owner of the Illinois criminal records you are trying to obtain, you cannot get a complete report. Other entities can be allowed, however, provided that they have the authorization to do so. These entities include the criminal record owner's employer, some state offices or agencies, and law enforcement offices.

For faster and more efficient service, you should consider using the services of independent online record searchers. These searchers manage an online database that's as comprehensive as you want a database to be. It's online, so it's available practically all the time. You will find records upon records of relevant public information anytime and anywhere you need to as the database can be accessed no matter what time of day it is, and no matter where you are in the United States.

If you want an option that's almost as good as you getting free criminal records, these independent online record providers will offer you the best service. Unlike government or state offices, you won't have to pay for every criminal record that you request. You only pay a one-time fee of a very minimal amount. No need to keep paying everytime you make a request. In fact, in exchange for the one-time fee, you will get unlimited access to their database. This means that you can find all the record you need anytime and anywhere. Quite a practical investment, don't you think so?
