What Will Fix Bleach Stain On Carpet

By Annabelle Holman

In the course of everyday life accidents can happen to the most careful of people. Around the house these accidents can cause serious damage to the homes we live in. Most commonly things are dropped or spilt on floors or furniture causing discolorations to appear. Color loss is one of the main reasons to explore how to fix bleach stain on carpet.

One of the first things that is suggested when a spill occurs is containment by blotting the affected area with absorbent cloths. This will help to keep the liquid from spreading further and creating a larger spot that must be dealt with. When these spills occur the color is stripped from the carpets anywhere the fabric gets wet.

Painting the stained spot with acrylic paints from craft stores has proven effective in some cases. The difficult part of this process may be finding an exact match to the colors in the carpets you need to repair. There are hundreds of choices and it is suggested that you take a sample of the unaffected fibers with you when you shop. The size of the spot may dictate whether you will want to use this method because each fiber must be individually painted and the results may not be permanent.

Suggestions along the same thought process involve crayons or permanent marking pens as the source for your colors. These methods also call for touch ups once in awhile and the pens may not stand up to steam cleaning of carpets. Generally speaking, it is very difficult to perfectly match the color surrounding the spot because age changes color and texture of fibers.

There are also dye kits that can be purchased online or at some flooring retail outlets. These kits are designed for the consumer to use as a do it yourself project. The kits are differentiated by the number of colors they involve. Some provide a full range of colors needed to match the original rug shade while others send the three primary colors used to dye all carpets. Both companies provide extensive technical assistance for their customers.

Dying carpeting is not a new concept. For years steam cleaning companies have offered this service for their customers. They usually prefer to dye the entire room when they perform this service but many can also spot dye your carpeting. The problems you may see with this service involves damaged areas absorbing more dye than areas that have not been damaged by bleach.

There is also an option to replace the damaged area from remnants left over after installation. This works best with larger areas and instructions can be obtained on line or from professional carpet layers. The adhesives and nap must be installed properly or it will look like a patch has been set into the flooring.

Finally, the easiest solution may be to place a rug or chair over the spot and work around it when decorating. This may be the last ditch solution for you when all else fails.
