How To Supplement The Use Of Heated Chicken Waterer

By Ruthie Calderon

Keeping your poultry animals properly hydrated is a given. This is mainly because the poultry animals will be less prone to diseases and highly likely to stay in good condition when they hydrate themselves as necessary. The best way to get the poultry animals hydrated would be to use quality heated chicken waterer.

Of course, it should be okay to use the said fixture. But this alone would not be enough in keeping the said animals in good health. There should be other things you can do to keep the animals cool. Keeping them cool is especially necessary when it is summer. Here are the tips one should take advantage of for this matter.

First, you should consider adding electrolytes to the water you are feeding the said animals. There are various electrolyte tablets one can easily buy nowadays and they can be used when the day is too hot, preventing dehydration. The tablets are to be dissolved in a gallon of water to make an electrolyte solution for animals.

Cold water is essential for the said poultry as well. That is why you have to ensure they get enough cold water from day to day. The cold water should be given to them so that they can personally regulate how they keep their body hydrated. The cold water is there to cool the poultry's body temperature down significantly.

A fan within your coop should be helpful. That is why it is highly recommended that you install that in the coop. Even when the structure of your coop gets messed up, this is still one of the things you have to do. After all, this is what will allow air to circulate properly, especially during summer. Ensure that the poultry are not in danger with the electrical wiring, though.

Do not forget to put some shade for the poultry. The shade you put for them is an effective way of giving them a spot to cool down. The shade can be placed near the poultry's coop. This shade can be the best place for the poultry's refuge. This can be in the form of the small table you do not use in your house anymore.

You should keep the interaction with the poultry animal at a minimum. The interaction with the poultry animals will just cause them to become more active. That will just create more heat. When the day is extremely hot, you better leave your poultry animals. You should only check up on them as necessary.

Get cold water and spray around the coop. The animals will feel cool air with that. When you use cold air to spray around the coop, you can cause an evaporative cooling. That will then be effective in cooling the animals. It can also be helpful in creating pools of water where animals can wade in during hot weathers.

Frozen treats are highly recommended. You can actually make the frozen treats with water, berries, and even watermelon. When you have cut them up in slices, the fruits in particular, you can then put them in a large container. After that, you can freeze them up. Leave the container available for the animals in the coop by the next day to help them keep cool on a summer day.
