Good Leadership Qualities-What Makes A Person A Good Leader?

By Mercy Nikenya

Do you remember a day in your schooling period, when leadership was thrown to you? Imagine of being a leader in a loud lower class where you spend the best part of your time, screaming to students to keep quiet, some appear not to hear what you are roaring as they are still making noise. Did you learn on good leadership qualities that you could use to handle them brilliantly?

Again, at one point or the other you've chosen a leader, be it in the church, school or those guilds at your work place. We consider to realize good leadership qualities and also we use them in electing a person to take a leading position that will benefit all. We do not just dream to crown any individual to be a leader. Good leadership is essential to any organization.

What are these qualities we do call good leadership qualities? Does it mean that we have abilities in leadership that are general? Think about a chief handling a criminal, beating is concerned to fix such a person, you consider that as a wicked chief, but his work demands that he should do it! Can't it be called a general quality? Below are a selection of the good qualities.

1.) A good leader should show love to followers. For one to attain successful leadership there's need for love. The leaders should love his/her followers and the followers should also adore their leader. The followers that you lead will give a simplified mission as all are ready to share with you ideas freely and also solve issues as united organisation.

2.) Leaders should act as idols. Imagine of a church leader strict on the use of alcohol but who is found drunk by Christians. This leader will not act as idol to church members as they may doubt which is which (to drink alcohol or not to drink it) and this destroys their christian hope. Leaders should try possibly to lead as inspirations.

3.) One who leads should be trusty. A leader should be a trustworthy person, one who the subjects put their trust on; like in a position of cashier where money is handled in big amounts, folks should show some trust in you for them to leave their cash with you, not a leader whom they keep on doubting.

4.) Leaders act with equality. Serving a group, a leader needs to practice equality. A leader should not consider some better, poor, fair and some best. Equality should be exercised to all.

5.) Courageous: A leaders should be strong and not be afraid. He should have bravery to take on all issues without any fear. The leader should always be leading from the front and not from the back.

6.) Humility should also not be locked out. A leader should show humility to his/her supporters. Leading a team is involved with lots of hindrances, all sorts of words will be asserted, but be humble to swallow them and give good direction.
