Glioblastoma: Truth and Treatment

By Eric Santucci

Regretfully, we have only recently been made aware of many harmful and potentially fatal diseases. It is frightening to think of all the diseases that affect humankind, many of which are as-yet incurable. Foremost among these: cancer. Cancer in its various forms has caused both significant damage to human beings and a great deal of heartache for many families. With brain cancer, namely Glioblastoma, at the top of that list, it becomes necessary for us to band together to deter the spread of brain cancer.

While all cancers have a negative impact upon the body, there are those types of cancer that are even more detrimental. Glioblastoma is one of them. This is a type of brain tumor that is one of the hardest to treat and has a higher incidence of death some months after the prognosis. What is so scary about such a cancer as Glioblastoma is that it seems to come about quickly and sporadically. Practically anyone can be impacted by this at any time.

Some treatment options do exist when it comes to treating Glioblastoma. The usual radiation and surgery treatments that are utilized with other cancers are often taken into account here. The problem is that treatment doesn't always help in the long run since it can only give the victim a few more months. When there is a diagnosis usually the only thing a person can do is pray. It will stay this way until we find a cure.

Although treatment has the potential to help this situation, it doesn't always carry enough weight to give us lasting hope. Treatment has a high failure rate and only stave's off the cancer for so long. A cure is the only permanent solution to this problem and it is what we must work towards if we want to see brain cancer eliminated completely. Only through donations, research efforts and support groups may make this dream of a cure a reality.

Glioblastoma is a threat that should be taken very seriously because it is a disease that is very difficult to treat. It's not enough to merely treat a tumor that is likely fatal. We need to find a cure for this brain cancer and fast, lest we continue to live in fear for ourselves and for our children. .
