Sun lotions are product that enables individuals to protect themselves from damages that can be caused by exposure to the sun. They are also known as suntans, sunscreen or even sun lotions. They also come in various forms. For instance, it may be a gel or even a cream. Its main purpose is to reflect sunlight or prevent the absorption of the UV rays by the skin. Even skin Lighteners have sun tans in them.

As a matter of fact, sun lotions have various ingredients. However, different lotions may contain one or all the ingredients in them. First of all, they have an organic content in them. These are very crucial in ensuring that all the rays produced by the sun are absorbed. Secondly, they contain inorganic particulates. They also have organic particulates too. Sun lotions get their name and classification depending on how they work. Those that absorb the ultraviolet rays are chemical sunscreens and those that reflect light are known as physical tans.

Thanks to their growing demand and popularity, a debate concerning the use and safety of sun lotions has erupted. They have a bad and good side despite the fact that the American Cancer Society has declared them safe. Some of the benefits they offer include the fact that the skin is kept safe from the radiations and thus skin damage and cancer can be avoided. Secondly, the proteins that are usually found in the skin are maintained at optimum conditions. However, the users are bound to develop melanoma too. People also accumulate higher levels of UVA and they do not seem to realize this.

Sun lotions are very safe and effective. For one to achieve better results, they must apply it twice a day. The sunscreens help to minimize any harmful effects that the sun can pose to the skin. These sun lotions are also crucial in maintaining crucial proteins, such as keratin, elastin and collagen, whose main purpose is to keep the skin firm and smooth at all times.

In addition, sun lotions also help in prevention of cancer and any other condition that may be brought as a result of continuous exposure to the sun. Examples of skin cancers include melanoma and squamous cell skin cancers. They also tend to delay the aging process, as long as one is using them.

People who do not use sun lotions may have some disastrous long term effects. This is because the skin is exposed to the UV rays. Some of the things that they will experience include skin damage, cataracts, skin cancers and a suppressed immune system too.

It is for this reason that scientists and beauticians are recommending that people should start applying sun lotions. It can be applied at any time. However, the best time to apply is between 10 in the morning and four in the evening. This is due to the fact that the sun is hot at this time and so many radiations are being produced. The other body parts must not also be left exposed. Invest in a good hat, shades and long sleeved clothing. At all times, apply sun lotions that have a SPF factor of 30 and above.

Before making any purchase on Sun lotions, always seek for advice. Do not buy cheap creams. They may cause you more harm than good. This does not mean that you should go for the expensive ones. Determine the ingredients present and know whether they suit your skin type and needs.
