How To Keep Your Rhinestone Chokers Sparkling All The Time

By Eliza Mendoza

Rhinestone chokers are some of the most important accessories out there. Whether they are worn to make formal attires look more appealing or create added drama when paired with costumes, they can make women complete standouts. No matter where those who are wearing them go, it's for certain that these items will sparkle and cause a lot of heads to turn.

These stunning accessories are not going to look fabulous and radiant all the time. Rhinestones and the metal sections are prone to gathering a layer of dirt and grime. What's more, those ornaments that look like precious stones may end up loose and fall out in time. If not careful with their use and storage, women may not enjoy these necklaces for a very long time.

Several pieces of chokers should be prevented from rubbing against each other. Unnecessary contact with hard objects can leave the rhinestones scratched. Dangling parts may easily end up tangled if numerous accessories are stashed together. Women should purchase jewelry organizers with multiple compartments, each one lined with felt or any other soft material. When traveling and different pieces have to be taken along, their owners should place them in individual pouches out of cloth like cotton or velvet.

It is recommendable to wipe the rhinestones and the rest of the parts with a soft lint-free cloth after every wearing. Women should not wait before their dazzling accessories are covered with lots of dirt and grime before they spring into action. Before used ones are taken back to their respective storage, their owners have to make sure that they are clean and sparkling.

Eventually, wiping with a soft cloth may fail to completely bring back the lost radiance of rhinestones. Women should refrain from soaking them in jewelry cleaners available commercially when this problem is encountered. These accessories are nothing like the ones used on a daily basis. They require different cleaning methods to save them from ending up damaged.

To easily break down oils that keep the rhinestones from gleaming, it's possible to add a few drops of glass cleaner or rubbing alcohol onto the cloth. Make sure that you do not soak it with the suggested agent as this can ruin the foil lining at the back of rhinestones. To remove excess glass cleaner or rubbing alcohol, get a paper towel and place the item face down on it for hours.

A toothbrush made for babies may be used to remove dirt on the metal parts. The soft bristles won't cause the rhinestones to end up scratched. Some of these accessories are silver plated and are susceptible to tarnishing. Whenever their owners notice that the surface is starting to look dull, they may use an anti-tarnish polishing cloth to restore the shine.

Rhinestone chokers should be worn only after women have put on their clothes and their everyday cosmetics. Hairspray, perfumes, deodorants and others contain strong ingredients that may easily rob these accessories of their sparkle. In contrast, they need to be removed first so that they won't accidentally bump against buttons, zippers, pins and other metal items usually found on women's clothes.
