Different Techniques Of Land Clearing Houston

By Betty Murray

Land clearing involves more than just the removal of trees and other forms of vegetation in a given area to pave way for other uses. Because of the increased regulations on the activity, the technique must be done responsibly and will involve removal of obstacles like stumps, trees and bushes. Stones may also be included in removal. When it comes to land clearing Houston residents should consider various factors.

Because the exercise requires some particular type of equipment, one must strive to get the most suitable tools for the job to be done accurately. Before getting to use any equipment, it is advisable to study how they function. This will go a long way in helping one be able to handle the tools and thus avoid accidents. If one is no able to handle the equipment, then the other option would be to involve professionals. Alternatively, you can ask someone who knows to help.

Property that needs to be cleared should ideally be surveyed first. Surveying property helps to know what trees are present. Some trees are of better value than others and when cleared will earn you extra income. If a clearing company is hired without doing a survey in prior, potential income may be lost because the trees will be gotten rid of. The extra cost of the survey is worth it.

The authorities have to be talked to when looking to clear land. There are instances in which property owners are not allowed to clear land without permission. They will have to obtain permits, plus some paperwork is involved. Clearing land in such cases without a permit will get you into trouble with the authorities. Persons looking to clear land individually must do so systematically.

There are various methods of clearance. There is the cut and grind method which starts with cutting of trees. In most cases, the trees will be moved into a processing location. The stumps are however left behind in the ground and will be ground into mulching material. Other than that, the stumps may be pulled out using construction machinery.

In the past, most people embraced burning as the most convenient method of land clearing because it was very cheap. It was however known to lead to many cases of fires, which is why it has been outlawed in most places. People who cannot afford to hire excavating firms for clearing land could use the backhoe. It is cheaper. It should come with a front end loader, with a rake and fork. The rake clears small objects, the loader is used for purposes of digging while the fork is used for transport. The rake must be used cautiously so that soil is not destroyed.

Mulching is considered as the best alternative to the traditional land clearing methods. It is easier, cheaper and faster. It also does not create large piles of refuse. Even more importantly, it does not involve chemical use and does not cause destruction to top soil.

New designs of mulching machinery put minimal pressure on the ground. Instead of disturbing the soil, it is enriched through use of mulch which comes from chipping up trees and stumps. This technique is popular.
