How To Wrap A Turban

By Claudine MacDonald

These days, turbans have actually become quite a fashion statement especially in tropical countries. Back in the days, turbans were worn by many cultures including Indian, Middle Eastern, African, Persian, and Byzantine people. The main reason why these people wore turbans is actually to promote equality among the men. Usually, only men would wear this headdress but nowadays a lot of women wear it too because it is stylish. For those who are intrigued by this unique style, here is a short guide on how to wrap a turban.

Regular turbans are usually made in special clothing stores. These special cloths can actually be quite expensive, so a long scarf will be a good alternative. If one does not have a long scarf, any long piece of cloth will do.

Before one wraps the scarf around his head, he must roll it up first. He has to make sure that he rolls it up tightly otherwise it will be too loose. One would not want it to be loose otherwise it will fall down later in the day. Once he has rolled it up firmly, he should put the scarf at the back of his head.

Then he should take both ends of the scarf and put it at the front of his head. After that, he must cross the ends at the front and get ready to make a knot. Take note that the left end must always be on top of the right as it will make things easier in the next step.

When this is done, grab the both ends and turn them counter clockwise until a small twisted knot is created. Now one has to be very careful when twisting because the whole thing might come undone if not done properly. It was stated earlier that the left end should be on top of the right end. Well it should be like this because the positioning will affect the way the knot should be twisted.

One must position the both ends again to make it so that he can tie them at the back of his head. This can be quite tough because the knot can get easily broken in this step. The secret here is to tightly pull them backward swiftly and then tie a tight knot at the back of the head.

From this step, one may pull the both ends over his head all the way to the front so that it looks authentic. When he brings it to the front, he has to hide the both ends so that it does not dangle around while he walks. After bringing the ends to the front, he may just hide them in one of the corners of the headrest so that it is not seen.

So for those who want to try out this new style, here is how to wrap a turban. The method given above is not the traditional way of wrapping one because the traditional one is much harder. The mentioned style is actually an easy street style that many people do.
