Vacation Locations In SA

By Kyle Olsen

South Africa is one of the most preferred vacation destinations in the world. Granted, summer is the most popular time of year as this time of year is dry and warm, which allows for plenty to see and do, young and old.

You cannot go wrong when choosing South Africa holidays as your first choice. Even us, the citizens, Capetonians, Durbanites, Jo'burgers, we know, and appreciate, that our own nation has a lot to offer by way of sights and enjoyment for everyone, even the "difficult" one in the family will be thrilled and enjoy themselves completely, when coming to South Africa for a, or "The" vacation.

When you choose to go to SA, the sensible, 1st option location is Cape Town. Cape Town is called the Mother City and equals a few of the most beautiful cities on the planet. It is believed that Cape Town beats Sydney and San Francisco hands down, as the world's finest city. No argument there! And just to make the point stronger, Cape Town has won award after award for World's Cleanest Beach and Africa's Leading Destination, just to mention two ... of the 22 awards!

SA has actually always been known as the Jewel of Africa. SA has an astonishing shoreline that runs for over 3500 kilometers and some of the most stunning wine estates and boasts impressive cultural spots and tracks.

Another landmark of Cape Town is the V&A (Victoria and Alfred) Waterfront, which has a massive shopping center with a very diverse and substantial, food court. It sports its own massive Ferris wheel, with a VIP car. At the waterfront there is a lot to do, like the indoor craft market, the scratch patch (where you can dig around for semi-precious stones and you can buy by the bucketful!) There are ferry and boat rides and helicopter flips readily available, along with shark cage diving. At night, the waterfront transforms into a wonderland of sound and light as the restaurants fill up and live bands can be heard all over. You can even book a meal on a floating restaurant and enjoy the waterfront view from the deck of a boat.

There is so much to see in this awesome country, like the majestic mountains and the crystal blue seas at their feet, with their beautiful, white beaches along the coast. The West Coast is magnificent in its easy charm with seaside villages and some of the finest fish and shellfish you will ever have the satisfaction of sampling. You can also enjoy amazing nature scenes when the wild flowers burst into bloom in the spring, which calls forth all the lovely birds, for those who take pleasure in bird watching. For those who wish to see something a little larger, there is also whale watching. Awe inspiring!
