Relocating To Alameda County

Alameda County is home to more than 1.5 million Californians and its county seat, Oakland, is the largest city with more than 300,000 residents. While Oakland is a bustling, modern metropolis, it's actually one of the older corporate cities in California and was founded in 1852. There are also 13 other incorporated cities and many other towns and unincorporated neighborhoods.

Alameda County has three major league sports team. The Oakland Athletics and Oakland Raiders both play at the Oakland-Alameda County Coliseum, while the Golden State Warriors, the county's NBA franchise, plays at Oracle Arena. In addition, sporting events at the University of California, Berkeley, are highly attended including the games of the football, basketball and baseball teams.

If you'd rather be participating in an athletic activity than sit as a spectator, then Alameda County has plenty of great options. The county is home to as many as 350 parks, some of which encompass thousands of acres with picnic and playground area, hiking and walking trails and more. There are plenty of places for tennis and about 25 golf courses in the county, as well. As the county borders the San Francisco Bay, there are also plenty of water-related activities.

Families with children will also find a number of fun attractions just for them. A drive to Fremont might include an afternoon at the Ardenwood Historic Farm, and Fremont also has a train museum and a water park. In Berkeley, you can enjoy the Lawrence Hall of Science, and in Oakland, the Chabot Space & Science Center is a highly popular attraction.

As you head east to the inland areas, you'll encounter the town of Livermore and the city of Pleasanton. Pleasanton is an idyllic little city and often is ranked as one of the nation's best places to live. Livermore is a wine lover's paradise, offering as many as 40 vineyards as well as a quaint historic downtown area.
