There was a time in the New Testament when Jesus rebuked some religious leaders by asking them why they have not read the scriptures. This excerpt is from the book of Mathew 12:3, 5; 19:4; 21:42; 22:31. Probably the people who had been rebuked had continuously read the respective passages several times but were not fortunate enough to give a proper explanation of the bible scriptures.
A believer should read distinctly and gain the sense of it. Getting the cause of it will enable them to finally claim that they have understood the information. The holy book scripture are a strong weapon against temptation and trials in life. In the New Testament particularly in the book of Mathew 4, Jesus when confronted by temptation used scripture from the book of Deuteronomy to fight it off. This was an ideal defense against Satan temptations.
