Discover Concussion Relief With Tallahassee Chiropractic Office

By John Bolton

Coaches follow general guidelines when a football player is unconscious, no matter how brief the time is. A concussion might be more serious than is apparent. Students used to be sent back into the game if they claimed to be feeling fine. The concussion injury is viewed as requiring extensive evaluation at Tallahassee Florida Chiropractic. A student should not return to the game until it is done.

Testing to discover any physical or cognitive anomalies is important. A student should spend time resting after a concussion. If he has trouble concentrating in school or his vision is impaired it should be checked out. He may have a lack of balance. High school coaches are now leery of sending a student back to the game.

In addition to sports accidents, there are car crashes and falls that cause concussion injuries. Pain medication may be used if headaches occur. There may be pain in other parts of the body, stomach aches for one. The parents who do not want to continue the child on pain pills often consider chiropractic care to be a better choice.

If the child was a student getting good grades before the concussion, he may now be slipping by. Obviously, there is a reason for this change. He may find it hard to concentrate on what the teacher is saying. He may be suffering pain from stomach aches as well as headaches.

No parent wants a child to take pain medication for an extended period of time. Chiropractic care is medication free and non-invasive as well. The first meeting with a chiropractor is spent discussing the details of the injury, doing a physical exam and usually taking an x-ray. Manual adjustments may be the recommended method of care for misaligned vertebrae in the neck and upper back. The adjustments, over time, will return them to the proper position.

Such a misalignment can impact the spinal nerve roots that are located in the spinal cord. This causes pain in varying degrees of severity. A series of spinal adjustments to return the vertebrae to the correct position can alleviate the pressure, which in turn will alleviate the pain.
