There are a few secrets on how to potty train a puppy, although much of the work will be with you. One important tip is to take the time to properly potty train your puppy. Puppies do require a lot of discipline when you first get them home and potty training is one of the most important ones. Let's start with some facts about puppy potty training.

A baby will go potty whenever it needs to and that is the same with a puppy. They will go potty when they feel the need so you will need to break them of that habit right away. When they are so young, you will need to get them outside when you feel they need a potty break.

So when you start on how to potty train a puppy, the dog owner needs to show their puppy where they want them to go potty, and this will be their potty place. When you feel they have to go potty, take them to their potty place so they can go potty. Give them some kind words after they have gone potty in their potty place.

Giving your puppy a treat after they have gone potty in their potty place helps them learn where their potty place is, because they will know that if they go potty in that place they will get a treat.

A puppy that is very young have a very small bladder. They will want to go potty about every 40 minutes or so. So a good tip in how to potty train your puppy is to keep a look out for when you think they need a potty break, and get them outside often enough do they only go potty outside.

After a puppy has eaten, they will most likely want to go potty right after, so take them out right after their meals. You need to take your puppy out the last thing at night and also first thing in the morning. Get them on the same schedule when doing this so they know when it is time for a potty break.

Everyone within your household will need to say the same phrase when you want your puppy to go potty outside. This way your puppy will hear that phrase and know that it means we need to go outside and potty.

Another tip on how to potty train a puppy is to never rub their nose in their potty. They do not know what they did wrong and might go potty out of sight next time because you rubbed their nose in it before.
