A Concise Insight Into Naming German Dogs

If you're looking for a unique but fashionable name for your pet German Shepherd, then German names are perfect. As a matter of amusement the Germans don't call their pets with German names. They are looking for more common names like Asterix, Cool Catch, Blitz and Lightning. These names are interesting and exclusive.

There are different German pet names made from a list of German names and are commonly used for German shepherds. There are also many non-German and rich names are used for the German Shepherd but if you are living anywhere other than Germany it is a good idea to call your dog with a name from its original country. Names such as Elfriede, Mozart and Beethoven are suitable because they are recognized worldwide.

You can also base the name according to your German Shepherd's character. Why not name him Adler which is the German term for "eagle" if he has a carefree personality.

Normal names such as Bello or Hasso can also be used however they are not popular in Germany anymore. They're believed as uninteresting as spot and tabby or Fido in the English language. Some of the usual names for the German Shepherd include Ajax, Angel, Babe, Blue, Chaos and even Charlie and Cheese. Another famous German name for the German Shepherd can be Franz. It is a good idea to choose the name that suits the personality of the pet.

Rather than giving them a too general name like Sigmund, you may want to research on last names of intellectuals and writers such having such first name. This would include Siggi, Kafka, Freud, or Goethe - names that are unique enough for your German Shepherd.

Music lovers can consider Amadeusor Mozart. But you must not be limited to classical or ancient names. You can also Google for some pop artists such as Udo Lindenberg, Nena, or Austrian Falco to give your pet name with a newer sound. Another thing to consider is to look at German literature. You can give Siegfried and Kriemhild for male and female German Shepherd respectively.

If you want a very light name then why not fix on Asterix for a very smart puppy from the cartoon series by the same name. Really a strong and large dog like the German Shepherd can easily be named Obelix if it displays a happy-go-lucky nature and loves eating. Really the dog in the cartoon character was named in German also.

There are words that give off a specific meaning such as the German word for strong and noble is Adalhard and makes a magnificent name along with Baldur which means brave can make perfect options for a brave dog.

Other names include the female name Heidi for reputable, Hugo for intelligent, and Traute for trusted. You can also give Reinhard given that your German Shepherd is sturdy and has a remarkable appearance. These names are not even person names in Germany but they would sound nice for your pets.
