The Benefits Of Choosing Mayan Riviera Rentals

By Elinor Tran

On the south east coast of Mexico, on the edge of the Caribbean Sea below Cancun is the famous Yucatan Peninsula. It stretches towards Cuba, and nearer Cozumel. This is the sun-blessed Mayan Riviera, with coral sands and leaning palms. It offers a superb choice in vacation rentals: including villas and condominiums, bungalows and high-class resorts. Highway 307 leads to breathtaking beaches, wonderful Mayan Riviera rentals and many great restaurants.

Temperatures hover in the mid-seventies range all year, and the seas are just as warm. Most tropical storms strike north of Cancun or south in Belize. This little strip of coast is therefore blessed. The best time to visit is in the northern winter: from December through April, when it is dry and warm, but not stiflingly hot.

From a private villa or your condo, step straight onto the warm, clean white sand. There, choice of land and water-based recreational opportunities include golf, fishing, horse riding, jet skiing, snorkeling or scuba along Belize's barrier reef, and plenty more. Inland, take a trek through lush jungle with a reputable company.

This makes an excellent base for exploring Yucatan's archaeological wonders. The area is world renowned for sites like Chichen Itza, Coba and Tulum. Chichen Itza is the biggest draw. On the UNESCO World Heritage list, this city is pre-Colombian.

Nature reserves include swamps, mangroves and teeming wildlife. Then, take the boat to Cozumel with its unparalleled dive sites. Hitch a ride to the small island of Isla Mujeres, where you're almost guaranteed a swim with friendly dolphins.

Playa del Carmen has many vacation rentals. Get wonderful views from the lighthouse, or play a round of golf at world-class Playacar. This is the nearest town to Cozumel's incredible scuba and snorkeling, just offshore, reached by ferry. Choose from mayan riviera rentals with a private pool or an apartment further down the coast. Go south to find Akumal; which is convenient for visiting Tulum. With less than 1,500 citizens, it's a quieter area, far from all crowds.
