Is Hydronic Heat the Best for Home Heating?

By Georgie McNeal

For the health conscious, hydronic heating is in the competition. Air particles including dirt, allergens and dust, are not circulated throughout the house.

This is critical to the well-being of children and senior citizens, plus those who have difficulty breathing. The air particles are not dissipated into the room's environment. Insects, pests and small animals cannot get into the vents. Dust mites are at a considerably lower rate, a 50-80% reduction, than other heating units.

hydronic heating is very effective. It heats a room's occupants and contents versus its air. Due to the distribution of the heat throughout the wall and floor surfaces, more even temperatures across the room is achieved. Circulating water takes far longer to cool down than air, meaning it will continue to furnish heat long after the heating source turns off. Individual rooms can be controlled separately and even cut off, reducing the energy bill.

Hydronic heat is convenient. Various heating methods may be used. Natural gas, geothermal sources and wood are included among many others. Relatively lower costs of operation and an average of 20 to 40% higher efficiency over other systems make hydronic heating far more economical. There is nothing to clean out, such as air-circulating ducts. As for comfort, these heating systems are pet and children-friendly along with freedom from heavy noise.

Forced air heat is the other side of the competition. In this process, houses are heated via ducts. It is considered less expensive, mainly in upfront costs. However, it does not have any health advantages. Forced air heating clearly has a disadvantage when it comes to this. In this system, dust does move, which means allergies are in distribution.

As anyone can see, hydronic heat has a number of benefits over traditional heating methods. In the future, many homes will shift from traditional heating methods in lieu of a more friendly, alternative system.
