You may want to take a sleeping medicine if you will be on an extended flight, so that you may rest comfortable while flying. Nonetheless, don't take pills before takeoff. This could be bad for you in case the plane needs to return to the airport due to a problem.

If you plan to travel with your dogs, you should always brush them before putting them in the car. An animal shedding in your car will cover your seats with hair and can also impact your car's heating and cooling system. Remember to pack the items that you will need for your dogs, such as water bowl, food bowl, and bags for cleanup.

Whenever you go camping, but most importantly when you go hiking, you must carry local maps along with you. You should also consider taking a long a GPS unit or compass in case you lose your way.

When preparing for travel abroad, check when your passport will expire. Most countries have explicit rules regarding your passport. Most countries will not permit you to enter with an expired passport if it is within a given time frame. The lead time might be as little as three months, but it can go as high as a year in some cases.
