How to Plan a Themed Birthday Party

By Jeff Kingster

By the time you finish reading this, you'll be on your way to organizing and planning a themed party for you little kid. Trust me on this.

What should you do? Well, the most important step is to choose a theme. It can be anything from your child's favorite cartoon or your child's interest.

If you are struggling with choosing a theme you may want to use a simple theme. For example, a circus theme. Another option is to use the birthday child's age as the theme - such as for a three year old, you could revolve the party around the number 3.

There you go. You have picked a theme. What should you do next? The party planning shall begin!

In order to make it a successful party, you need to get the supplies. Having a themed party means that you should keep the party focused to a certain aspect. Therefore, be careful when choosing your party supplies.

You should choose supplies that are related to your theme. Keep in mind, though, that you can save a lot of money by using some items that match the theme's general color scheme instead of being actual theme items. For example, for a party with a Barbie theme, you can also use pink items. This can save a lot of money.

You will want to choose some main themed items, like the invitations, goodie bags and a few dcor items, like the table cloth and balloons. However, as mentioned you can save costs by buying some color coordinating items instead, so you can buy one bag of themed balloons and one bag of colored balloons so you have a lot of balloons, but for far less cost.

What is a birthday party without activities? Well, it will be a dull one. The activities you choose can be related to the theme too! Well, if you have a circus themed party, you can have games like bean bag toss or you can even hire a clown. if you do not want to hire a clown you can even paint your face and dress yourself up as a clown! One thing to remember; it is okay if some of your activities are not related to the theme.

If you throw a party, you need food. Wouldn't it be fun if the food is also related to the theme? Well, I think it will get the children to not forget to eat. However, it may not be easy to have food that is related to the theme, unless you have a Mexican theme. What you can do is that you can at least have the cake related to the theme.

It can be very fun to come up with ideas about how to incorporate a theme into the different aspects of a birthday party. It is all about being creative. Once you choose your theme you should sit and brainstorm a bit about everything you can do with your theme.

So, there you have it. All you need to know about planning and organizing a themed birthday party. By having a themed birthday party, not only you will have fun, it can also help you choose the food and decor easier. All you need to do is to have fun and be creative and you won't go wrong.
