Which Baby Monitor is Right For Your Family?

By Maria Andersen

There was a time when it wasn't so complicated to get the right things for your baby. There were only a few different types of cribs, high chairs, playpens, baby monitors, etc. Today, however, the number of choices is vast. You no doubt want to choose the highest quality items for your baby, but it can be difficult to know how to figure out which baby accessories are best. It can be stressful to try to sort through all these choices to find the right one for you. There are, fortunately, ways to make these choices easier.

Do you know what type of channel range or frequencies you require?

If you live in an area with a lot of families or in a multi-family building you will want to find a unit that gives you a wide range of frequencies, as this should eliminate the hassle of interference from other homes' monitoring systems. This is important to consider, because you don't want to be picking up on the frequencies from other people's devices, and even other's baby monitors, which can prevent you from hearing what is actually happening in your own baby's room.

What is going on in your home that could potentially interfere with the effectiveness of your baby monitor? You might not realize it, but many of the electronic devices in your home right now (such as cordless phones or even your radio) could interfere with how well your baby monitor operates. If you choose something on the same frequency, you could mess up more than one of your possessions!

In the end, there are so many options to really consider when purchasing your baby monitor. Your final decision should in the end, be based on how extensive you actually want your system to be, and also how much you want it to cost. Don't be afraid to take the time to do your research in the end, because you will easily be able to make your decision once you do.
