Homemade horse treats have proved to be easy to make. The owner of horses can decide to spoil their horses using the home made stuff which is also cheap and convenient to make. The the lovers o the horses can independently make decisions on the best type of treat to prepare for their own horses.

The homemade foods are majorly made from natural ingredients for example apples, carrots oatmeal sugar various types of vegetable s among others. The easy availability of these materials makes it even easier and cheaper to make the foodstuffs from home especially when the person making them has an idea of what they basically need to make some.

The person making these should be aware that there are some ingredients that are toxic to horses and should therefore select the various ingredients carefully before embarking in the cooking exercise. This is an important factor because the simple meal can end up sickening the horses and in the process result to more treatment costs or even sometimes death. This can become very disheartening and costly for the owner of the horses.

Some of the vegetables and foodstuffs that have been known to be toxic for horses include chestnuts, tomatoes and some others which selectively affect horses. This will require the owner to make observations from time to time to find out any other items or ingredients that intoxicate horses. These observations will help in choosing particular foods that will be helpful in developing dietary considerations when making homemade food for horses.

The weight matters should also be factored in when making the food. The owner will need to observe the weight of the particular horses and consult widely on what constitutes the ideal weight. This will guide him in either increasing or reducing substances that are known to have an effect on horse weight for example, high calorie substances such as sugar.

Cookies and biscuits are similar in many ways and make a good combination for the treat. The person preparing should try to add other ingredients that help improve the texture of the treat. There are unbaked and baked types of horse treat and the owner can choose or seek advises on which are best for the horses.

If for instance you wish to make a birthday cake for your horse molasses, honey carrots and oats can make good ingredients. The person preparing can choose to have baked or unbaked versions depending on what they think the horses enjoy. The baked types can be enriched with bran cereal.

The recipes used in making homemade horse treats are easily available both offline and online. Internet searches are much better because you can tailor search them. There are many books that guide on recipes and guidelines of preparing them.
