What You Should Know About A Wine Picnic Basket

By Ava McCormick

Making a wine picnic basket is much easier than you might think. To create the optimal gift, add their favorite wine and a variety of other items. This type of gift is a thoughtful idea for nearly any of your friends whether it is a couple and their anniversary or a single friend who enjoys an occasional glass.

One suggestion when creating this basket, if making it for your favorite wine drinking couple, provide everything that they will need to have a special, romantic picnic together. Some items to consider include snacks, assorted wines, and a matching set of cloth napkins. You may even consider the addition of a cloth blanket or tablecloth that can be placed on the ground, which matches the napkins.

Not only will you need to be sure that your container is the right size for all of the items that you wish to put in it but you should also consider other uses. The recipient of your wonderful gift may want to find a way to reuse it in their home. Choose one that will match their home decor and one that will be easy to personalize however you wish.

If you are not able to add napkins or a tablecloth, you may want to consider towels or shredded paper. This will help to protect the bottles and any other glass that you may have placed into the container. Depending on the occasion for the gift you may be able to purchase varieties of wines that are not found every day.

One example, Beaujolais nouveau, is available only once a year, usually the third Tuesday of November. Given the date that this one arrives, it would be perfect in a holiday picnic basket. This one type is a red and its unique flavor makes it the perfect accompaniment to turkey or ham and all of the traditional dishes that go with them during the holiday season.

A fun way to help personalize the basket is to add labels that have been custom-made to the bottles. You may choose to have nearly anything printed on the labels. You can include many different items in the overall package. Some of the items you choose may include gourmet foods and fancy chocolates. You might also choose to add glasses, a corkscrew, and a bottle stop to close the wine if necessary.

If you do not want the gift to be romantic you may choose other options to tuck inside of the container. Instead of gourmet foods include a gift certificate to a local winery. If you are giving this gift to a friend who enjoys soaking in a bubble bath, you might include some scented candles and assorted bubble bath so they can relax with some wine in the tub. It can be a lot of fun to decorate the gift with ribbons and even plastic fruit, such as grapes.

By creating a wine picnic basket of you own, you not only control the costs but you can personalize the gift in a way that cannot be topped by any store. If you enjoy creating your own varieties, you may consider putting some homemade flavors into the container and sharing it to show off your talents.
