Learning Multiplication: Mental Arithmetic for Kids

When you used to be a kid, do you remember thinking how simple addition and subtraction was? In fact , you could have even confessed to being a math geek! You loved math and there's no rejecting it. But when multiplication classes started, you found yourself slowly and strongly hating arithmetic.

Well, do not worry, that's normal! Plenty of children really started hating mathematics due to multiplication. Why? Cause it involved a lot of rote memory.

Rote System Isn't Effective

Most school systems focus on developing a child's talent in memorization. How frequently have you found your child reciting and repeating the same thing again and again? This is what we call the rote technique.

But did you know where this rote method originated from?

In the Industrialization era, a country near Germany called Prussia produced the best factory workers. These folks were like robots! They knew everything that they need to do each day because they were asked to memorize it. They'd repeated jobs and the hence they follow the rote method.

And yes, the college systems are based on the way a country managed their factory workers.

Manifestly, you want to help your youngsters learn multiplication in the most modern and most efficient way as practical. And that modern and acceptable way is what we call psychological mathematics for youngsters.

What is mental mathematics? Well, it is where science and art meets. It is where your children will have to train their mind to understand and manipulate numbers. And not the other way around.
