Adrenaline Junkie Activities at Grand Canyon

By Ronald Fisher

The close proximity of the bridge to Las Vegas (around 4.5 hours) makes it a great destination for tourists visiting the gambling mecca of Nevada. Sure you can view the beauty of the Grand Canyon from far away in a helicopter or some other mode of transportation. Sure you can view the discerning tranquility of the Grand Canyon floor through a hiking expedition, but nothing will get you from the top to the bottom faster than a jump on a bungee cord.

The same concept holds true for bungee jumping expeditions. Bungee jumping at the Grand Canyon has to hands down be one of the most beautiful and impacting bungee experiences that one can experience. The serene and gorgeous natural surroundings of the Grand Canyon are the perfect backdrop to experience one of the world's most epic adrenal rushes.

The Skywalk is truly a marvel of engineering as it is a transparent horseshoe shaped cantilever bridge that hangs out over the edge quite a ways. Just walking around the surface of the bridge tests a person's fear of heights, much taking a bungee jump over the edge. The amazing structure is rated to withstand an 8.0 magnitude earthquake as close as 50 miles and can theoretically hold the weight of 71 loaded Boeing 747 aircraft. It has been a magnet for tourists since its opening in 2007.

The attacks of 9/11 brought about the increased interest in the Hoover Dam Bypass Bridge, and it is another interesting place that many bungee jumping enthusiasts would like to give a try. Unfortunately, that has not been possible yet. The beautiful bypass bridge was developed and opened in 2012 in order to divert traffic away from the actual dam for safety reasons.

At a height of 470 feet, the bridge is the perfect place to go bungee jumping at the Grand Canyon. The gorgeous desert sands add to the ambiance, and one can see the landscape of the Echo Cliffs in the near background. And what better to look at then the unforgettable rustic colors of the Grand Canyon as you fly through the air? If you were going to sky dive anyway, then why not go all out and do it at the Grand Canyon?
