How Age Can Cause Infertility

Getting pregnant after 40 is considered a great feat. After all, most women understand that naturally conceiving after middle age can be very challenging. A woman's reproductive system gradually declines in health as she grows older. While this is true for all women there are reports of natural pregnancy even after 50 years old. The key to this is awareness and preparations.

Considering fertility treatments are nowadays is not rare. This is because methods such as IVF or ICSI has been used so many times and have been successful. Moreover, most doctors nowadays will still recommend using natural methods to get pregnant. Naturally conceived babies are known to be healthier. Artificial methods are only used as a last option to parents who are having a hard time getting pregnant.

The Risk of Experiencing Reduced Fertility

A woman's body starts with thousands of egg cells during late childhood and puberty. This will gradually released by the body during menstruation. The body will continue releasing the egg cells and the body will only have about half of the original count at 30 years old. As the woman advances to 40, the number of egg cells is reduced to only 25 percent and slowly dwindles down to nothing as she reaches menopause.

It does not mean that you are 40 years old you are not able to get pregnant. While it may be hard, it does not mean that it is impossible. Doctors will inform you that with care and awareness you should be able to get pregnant using the right techniques.

The Health Considerations

Getting pregnant is possible, so the next thing that women have to be concerned about is keeping a healthy pregnancy. Many women after 40 years of age have difficult sustaining a pregnancy. The chances of experiencing miscarriage and other pregnancy problems are high during middle age. For women during this age, it is important to prepare the overall health especially for childbirth.

Prepare For Your Pregnancy

There are plenty of middle age women who are able to get pregnant but are unable to sustain the pregnancy. This is because women over 40 can easily experience different health problems that may affect the health or the condition of the baby. Age is also another huge factor in the chances of miscarriage.

Most doctors will agree that awareness is an important key during middle age pregnancy. There are a lot of women who are able to get pregnant during this age but still experience miscarriage. This is because they are unaware on how to properly care for their bodies and their babies. Complete vitamins and nutrients are required to sustain a good and healthy pregnancy as well as childbirth.

Experts in reproductive health shares that getting pregnant involves awareness of the woman's body especially the monthly cycle. Any woman for example can easily get pregnant at the right time of their cycle (which is the ovulation). To know more about the monthly cycle, reproductive health care as well as prenatal care are very important.

Getting the right health care before and during pregnancy is important for any woman. This is because doctors are able to see any needs of extra care during the pregnancy and help women prepare for childbirth. It also provides early health care for the child.
