A Basic Skin Care Plan That Leaves Skin Clear And Smooth

By Kathy Olson

Ensuring one has lovely clear skin need not cost an arm and a leg. The most important thing to remember about skin care is that it should be done every day. In the morning a lukewarm splash is sufficient but in the evening a full routine is required. Many people consider it a cardinal sin to go to bed with makeup on. Fact or fable, it is said that for each night a person sleeps with makeup on their face their skin ages a week.

Diet and exercise play an important role in the condition of the epidermis. Fruit and vegetables are important and should be consumed daily. Lots of water is essential to flush and cleanse out toxins and impurities that could mar the epidermis.

A basic care regime consists of cleansing, toning and moisturizing daily with a weekly facial scrub or mask if required. People need to be cautious to not use a facial scrub too often. Sensitive or pimpled skin can redden and become coarse from over scrubbing or rubbing too hard. Gentle nourishing masks are beneficial. If one is unable to afford a commercial product there are numerous recipes for masks on the internet using basic foodstuffs.

Teenagers may want to try a blend of oats and honey for a natural facial scrub. Yogurt has many beneficial properties and is a soothing nourishing light mask for irritated or red skin. Gentle exfoliation assists the epidermis to shed old dry cells to reveal new smooth outer layer.

The evening cleansing ritual starts with a cleanser. A large majority of women prefer using a creamy cleanser which leaves their face feeling soft. Facial washes have become popular as many people clean their faces whilst showering. These soapy washes may dry out the skin. A small quantity of cold cream gently massaged onto face and neck face with the fingertips is an ideal way to apply cleansers.

After cleansing a toner can be applied with gentle sweeping strokes. Many people prefer not to use toner as they feel it dries their face and neck. Others believe that using a toner ensures that any makeup and grime the cleaner may not have removed is wiped away.

After cleaning a nourishing cream should be applied. Whenever applying any creams to the face and neck use gentle massaging motions. These night lotions are concentrated and often extremely rich, especially those made for the over 50's. It is therefore recommended that people use a night cream that is appropriate for their age as using a too rich lotion can cause problems such as causing oiliness or blocking pores.

Excessive and regular exposure to sun rays is harmful. It prematurely ages, causes wrinkles and blemishes. Areas around the eyes are especially prone. Daily use of either high factor sun block under makeup or liquid makeup base that contains top factor sun block for faces is crucial to protect delicate epidermis areas. Essentially an all encompassing routine that cleans and nourishes is important for overall skin care. Top branded products may be expensive and are not necessarily the best for a person. People can also research or experiment with different brands to find the product best suited to their skins.
